The VWR UV Crosslinker, Cat. # 89131-484, is a versatile laboratory instrument designed to deliver precise and consistent ultraviolet exposure for molecular biology applications. Utilizing overhead 254 nm UV illumination, the system is ideal for crosslinking DNA and RNA to nitrocellulose and nylon membranes, PCR contamination control, UV sterilization, and sample decontamination. Equipped with five 8-watt UV tubes, the system provides uniform illumination throughout the exposure chamber, while an integrated UV sensor continuously monitors radiation intensity and compensates for changes in UV output as the lamps age.
Designed for convenient and reliable operation, the VWR UV Crosslinker features a large LED display, intuitive controls, and a pull-out drawer for easy sample placement. Preset exposure settings of 120,000 microjoules or 5 minutes, along with adjustable manual controls, provide flexibility for different applications. The system automatically terminates UV exposure once the programmed energy dose is reached, ensuring consistent and reproducible results. A UV-blocking observation window allows users to monitor samples while minimizing exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
