The Eppendorf Mastercycler X50i & X50s Gradient Thermal Cycler Bundle is a state-of-the-art PCR solution designed for advanced research, high-throughput applications, and scalable workflows. At the core, the X50s model features a high-resolution touchscreen interface for intuitive programming, control, and monitoring. It can independently run programs or act as a master unit, seamlessly managing up to nine connected eco units like the X50i. The X50i functions as an extension of the master, delivering the same gradient and high-performance thermal cycling capabilities while relying on the X50s for touchscreen input and program execution.
This bundle supports networking of up to 50 cyclers through the CycleManager X50 software (not included), making it an excellent choice for multi-user labs and facilities needing large-scale coordination. Both units employ innovative 2D-Gradient technology, enabling optimization of both annealing and denaturation conditions simultaneously for more refined PCR results. Fast ramping rates of up to 10°C/sec heating and 5°C/sec cooling, paired with six independently controlled peltier elements, ensure rapid, precise, and uniform temperature changes across the block.
The Mastercycler X50 series is designed with efficiency and flexibility in mind. The flexlid concept offers automatic height adjustment to fit a wide range of PCR consumables, while the compact front-to-back ventilation system minimizes the footprint on crowded benches. Temperature control is highly precise, with a block range of 4°C to 99°C, a heated lid adjustable from 37°C to 110°C, and uniformity as tight as ±0.2°C to 0.3°C depending on cycling range. Gradient functionality covers 30°C spreads within a 30°C to 99°C temperature range, making it highly versatile for PCR optimization.
For data handling, the X50s provides ample onboard memory for up to 5,000 programs and 500 folders, ensuring quick access to established protocols. With interfaces for USB and Ethernet, labs can streamline program storage, software updates, and system networking. Despite its advanced capabilities, both the X50s and X50i maintain a compact design and quiet operation, making them well-suited for continuous use in busy lab environments.
