The BioTek Synergy MX Multi-Mode Microplate Reader is an advanced, versatile laboratory instrument designed for various life-science research applications. This state-of-the-art device features a fully monochromator-based system with quadruple grating architecture, ensuring ultra-fine-tuned performance across a range of functions. It is compatible with the Take3 Multi-Volume Plate, which includes 2 µL microspots for conducting low volume assays efficiently. Key features of the Synergy MX include high-performance fluorescence detection (top read only), absorbance, and a dedicated luminescence detection system. Its automated Z-height adjustment can accommodate varying microplate heights and liquid levels with a precise 100 μm resolution. The variable bandpass selection system adds further flexibility to its operations. Additionally, the device includes a cuvette port for standard 1-cm path cuvettes.
The absorbance specifications of the Synergy MX are impressive. It utilizes a Xenon flash lamp as its light source and a double monochromator for wavelength selection, covering a range from 230 to 999 nm in 1 nm increments. The device ensures photometric accuracy of < 1% at 2.0 OD and repeatability of < 0.5% at 2.0 OD, with a dynamic range from 0 to 4.0 OD. For fluorescence intensity measurements, the device also uses a Xenon flash lamp and a dedicated red-shifted PMT detector, with a wavelength range of 250 to 900 nm and a remarkable sensitivity level. The luminescence capabilities of the Synergy MX are equally robust, featuring a low noise PMT detection system and a dynamic range of < 6 decades, with exceptional sensitivity for detecting as low as 10 amol of ATP.
This microplate reader can accommodate formats from 1 to 384-well plates and PCR plates, and offers various read methods such as endpoint, kinetic, spectral scanning, and well-area scanning. It also includes plate shaking features and precise temperature control from Ambient +4°C to 65°C. Controlled by BioTek's powerful Gen5 software, the Synergy MX facilitates easy data collection, analysis, exporting, and reporting, making it an invaluable tool for modern laboratories engaged in life-science research. Please Note: This is the SMATCL model of the Synergy MX, which DOES NOT feature bottom fluorescence reading or a dual reagent dispenser.
