The Thermo Scientific NanoDrop Lite Spectrophotometer is a compact, stand-alone UV spectrophotometer designed for basic microvolume measurements of nucleic acids and purified proteins. Featuring a unique sample retention system that uses surface tension to hold 1-2 µL of sample, it eliminates the need for cuvettes. This system, combined with its stainless steel pedestals and optical fibers, ensures accurate and reproducible results. The NanoDrop Lite is equipped with LED technology to measure sample absorption at 260 and 280 nm and corrects for background effects using a reference wavelength at 365 nm. It is capable of determining nucleic acid concentration and purity (via the A260/A280 ratio) and measuring purified protein concentration at 280 nm.
With an absorbance range of 0 to 30 Abs (10 mm equivalent), and a spectral resolution of less than 8.0 nm, it delivers the accuracy expected from NanoDrop instruments. The device is user-friendly, featuring built-in controls and software, an LCD display, and does not require a computer. It also supports connection to an accessory printer for direct label printing. Key specifications include a 3% absorbance accuracy at 1.05 Abs at 260 nm, a minimum sample size of 1 µL, a pathlength of 0.5 mm, and a quick measurement time of under 5 seconds. The NanoDrop Lite, with its small footprint, is an ideal choice for any laboratory benchtop.
