Thermo Scientific French Press Cell Disrupter
The Thermo Scientific French Press Cell Disrupter is a hydraulic press which uses control valves and a motor driven pump to vary hydraulic pressure generated by the press. The Press offers the advantages of dual-range, single-control pressure selection and fully regulated working pressure through the entire operating stroke. These special features differentiate the motor-driven French Press Cell Disrupter from manual presses. The Press is designed for use with the French Pressure Cells manufactured by Thermo to produce a selected pounds-per-square inch (psi) value inside a French Pressure Cell. It can accommodate both 1-in and 3/8-in diameter piston French Pressure Cells. The Thermo Scientific French Press provides a rapid and effective mechanism for gentle disruption of cell membranes and walls. This pressure-induced process results in more uniform and complete disruption than possible with other mechanical or ultrasonic methods. The French Press is capable of exerting up to 40,000psi of pressure resulting in excellent performance.
The Thermo Scientific French Press Cell Disrupter is designed for use in the following applications: Enzymatic preparation and isolation; cell extract preparation; bacterial and plant tissue disintegration; recovery of intercellular proteins and nucleic acid; preparation of viral antigens for EIA test kits; membrane preparation for phizobia and pseudomonads; disruption of cells for pigment analysis. (Please Note: A Pressure Cell is NOT Included and is required for operation). All of our equipment is fully tested to perform at factory specifications before being shipped.
The Thermo Scientific French Press Cell Disrupter includes:
- > Power Cord
- > Operator's Manual
- > Full 180 Day Parts and Labor Warranty

- Verify power supply output to ensure precise voltage delivery as per equipment specifications
- Inspect for any cosmetic damage, ensuring no structural or aesthetic impact on equipment performance
- Check LED display functionality, replacing any dim or dead pixels to maintain optimal readability
- Confirm integrity of the front panel membrane, ensuring all buttons and indicator lights function as designed
- Examine threads on both the converter and converter cable for cross-threading or visible damage
- Inspect all internal wiring for any signs of frays, cuts, or compromised insulation
- Verify fan operation for adequate cooling, replacing if performance is insufficient
- Clean converter, horn, and tip, applying pure silicone grease before reassembly to ensure longevity and proper function
- Confirm analog wheel functionality (if applicable) for accurate setting adjustments
- Test output settings and verify display bar graph corresponds accurately to output readings
- Confirm pulse mode functionality, verifying accurate timing and response
- Check security of converter, horn, and microtip after full testing to ensure stable assembly
- Inspect line cord and converter cable for any damage, frays, or exposed wiring
- Document all inspection findings and any maintenance actions taken
